District News Update 4-03-13

April 03, 2013

Spring has arrived! As the hours of sunlight each day grow longer, the amount of time remaining with students in the classroom grows shorter! We have reached the "home stretch" of the school year with eight weeks remaining to address all of the learning we still want to accomplish with our students. A great deal of progress has already occurred, and we begin the "testing season" in grades 3-8, 11 to satisfy the accountability testing requirements as dictated by the state of Nebraska. Please encourage students to do their best, as we use student test results to identify areas of success and improvement; we want to make sure our information is as accurate as possible. As stated many times before, test results are not the only measure of student success.

Here are a few examples from District 145:

Congratulations to Caitlin Davis & School District 145 - Waverly High School's newest State Champion in Persuasive Speaking.  Caitlin also placed fifth in Oral Interpretation of Poetry at the NSAA Speech championships.
