Board of Education Recognized for Excellence

School District #145 Board of Education is once again among the select few across the state of Nebraska to be honored by the Nebraska School Board's Association as a recipient of the "Outstanding Board Award." Each year, board members must participate in a variety of training activities and conduct planning meetings as a Board to be eligible for consideration.

Requirements include every board member to participate in at least one local leadership team planning retreat per year; total points accumulated by the members must equal a minimum of 1,000; from August 1 to July 31 the total points earned during the current Board Development year by people serving on the board must equal a minimum of 250 points.

Most activities provide five or ten points per event. Events that District 145 board members attended this past year include: School Leadership Workshop, Board as Judge and Jury; School Law Seminar, Open Meetings Law Workshop, School Finance Workshop, Legislative Issues Conference,  NASA/NASB Labor Relations Conference, NASA/NASB State Education Conference. Dennis Francke, President of the Board, receives individual recognition for achieving Level VII for service provided to the Board of Education.

This is the ninth time since the 1999-2000 school year that the District 145 Board of Education has met the criteria for this award! Board members Linda Bevans and Dennis Francke have attained Level VII of achievement, which requires accumulation of at least 1000 points. Alan Retzlaff has reached Level VI (750), David Doran Level V (500), Dale Rolofson has reached Level III (250), and Andy Grosshans is at Level II (150), although Andy is within a few points of attaining Level III. 

The Board of Education is to be commended for their commitment to serving students. Congratulations to the Board of Education for being recognized as one of only fourteen school boards (out of 237 possible) in Nebraska to receive this distinction!
