Eagle Elementary Reading Challenge

March 06, 2011

Reading Challenge--Eagle

The students at Eagle Elementary participated in a reading challenge during the month of February. We asked each student to read 100 minutes each week.  We are pleased to announce that our students lived up to that challenge. They read 87,549 minutes.

We did a culminating activity in the gym on Thursday, March 3. All students watched an I-Max movie called, “To the Limit”.  This showed a rock climber, a downhill skier and a ballet dancer taking themselves to the limit in their endeavors.  It explained how the body functions in order for these individuals to be able to be successful in what they do.  This was a great thing to watch that also tied to our fitness theme for this year.  During this event students ate popcorn courtesy of the Eagle Student Council.  All students received a bottle of water as they left the gym courtesy of the PTE.

Top readers from each class were recognized and received a prize for their reading.  Those students were:
Kindergarten—Mrs. Flohr—Charlie Johnson
Kindergarten—Ms. Ottemann—Tressa Neemann
1st Grade—Mrs. Lehr—Nathan Rash
1st Grade—Mrs. Rieker—Eddie Johnson
2nd Grade—Mrs. Dutton—Lily Dobbins
2nd Grade—Mrs. Sabin—Colton Jensen
3rd Grade—Mrs. Divis—Julia Martin
3rd Grade—Mrs. Stepp—Lexa Rash
4th Grade—Mrs. Culver—Maguire Korby
4th Grade—Mrs. Davidson—Rhett Jordon
5th Grade—Ms. Dietze—Yennifer Ferrer
5th Grade—Ms. Foreman—Madison Hanke

The reader with the most minutes was Maguire Korby.  She read 2,680 minutes.  What a great accomplishment!  She received an additional prize.

The top classes were; Mrs. Lehr’s 1st grade class and Mrs. Stepp’s 3rd grade class.  They also received a prize.

Congratulations to all our readers.
