Teachers Review Classroom Goals

January 06, 2012

On January 4th, teachers returned to school while students enjoyed their last day of winter vacation. As part of the continuous school improvement process, all K-12 teachers established a classroom goal at the beginning of the 2011-12 school year.

The teachers identified their goal based on information they have gathered through observations of students and examination of achievement data. Teachers created action plans to implement specific strategies in their classroom. They continue to monitor progress of students throughout the year.

Teachers reported their progress to their peers during the January 4 meetings.

They shared examples of student work to demonstrate whether or not adequate progress has occurred. They received feedback from other teachers regarding the strategies used. These teams are an effective way to support teachers, and help keep their focus on meeting their goals. There has been tremendous progress demonstrated by students during the first semester, and teachers are looking forward to continuing that success during the second half of the school year.
