2018-2019 WHS Scheduling

January 10, 2018

Student-Only Meetings

Dear Students & Parents/Guardians:

Preparation for next school year is already underway.  We would like to share with you important information regarding the scheduling process for the 2018-19 school year.  During January or February we will be meeting with all students to discuss graduation requirements and college-entrance requirements and to create individual academic plans. These meetings will provide each student with the following: 1) a course description booklet explaining the curriculum and prerequisites of each high school class offered, 2) an individual transcript review sheet of each student’s academic progress to date, and 3) an academic plan on which the student will write the courses he or she wishes to enroll in next year.

Students are expected to bring this information home for parent approval and signature.  Freshmen and sophomore students will also be discussing course choices with their PLP advisors.  We encourage parents to discuss with students their plans for next year and beyond. The days that each grade will receive this information at the student-only meetings, and the dates for form return, are provided below.

Scheduling Notes:

**Present 9th and 10th graders will also meet with their PLP Advisors to discuss scheduling and appropriate course choices.

**We take the scheduling process seriously.  Numbers of class sections, teacher assignments, courses offered, etc. are all based on this process. Students MUST pick the classes in which they will enroll. What is approved now WILL BE the courses available to the students next year. In the 2018-2019 school year, schedule changes will NOT be made without special approval.

**Each student's academic plan will be entered into the PowerSchool system this summer.  Schedules will be available at the beginning of the next school year.

Thank you for your help with this process.
