4th Grade Ag Day

By Culver, Gregg

April 01, 2012

Students in fourth grade at Eagle Elementary School got to learn about Agriculture in Nebraska on April 4, 2012, at Agriculture Awareness Day.  They learned about the importance of agriculture to Nebraska's economy.   Cows, pigs, and a horse were present also for students to learn about.  Students learned that all the counties in Nebraska have Beef Cattle.   There are many kinds of crops and animals in Nebraska and all of them are used for many things other than food.  Pig's hearts have a valve similar to that of a human, so much so, that it can be used as a replacement.   If any students wanted to become a veterinarian for large animals they had the chance to see what a pill for a cow looks like and how big a shot would be also.  These and many other interesting facts were learned on this field trip to the Lancaster Event Center for Ag. Awareness Day.  Many thanks go out to the contributors of the animals and the presenters!
