Elementary Parent Involvement Night

May 02, 2012

Parent Involvement Night

Thank you to all the parents and students who came to the Parent Involvement Night. It was a great success! Parents were able to listen to a brief informative session about the research backing the importance of parent involvement in the academic process, how to get involved in schools, and plenty of academically and socially founded activities for the summer. Jenny Wyatt (Kindergarten), Angie Harris (3rd) and Kelly Masters (4th) spoke about the importance of parent involvement and how much of an impact it makes in the classroom.

Carol Hartweg (PTO new member recruitment) shared a heartfelt account of her personal experience from her childhood as well as the positive and rewarding impact she has noticed in her own children due to her involvement in the school system. A great big thank you goes out to these speakers and all the volunteers from the PTO that helped make this night possible!

After the brief presentation parents and students were able to get more information about the importance of parent involvement and local opportunities. The students enjoyed perusing the countless books at the book exchange. All in all it was a fun and informative night.

A booth will be set up at the carnival for those who were unable to make it but would still like information on parent involvement and activities. Next year we will be having another parent information night based on topics set by the parents. Thanks again to all who participated!
