District News Update 10-4-12

As we "leave" summer behind, the October 2012 update includes information to keep you informed, so you do not "fall" behind!

A big thank-you to Pinnacle Bank for donating $5,000 this school year to support the Career Academy program at Waverly High School. This will be used to pay for the school district's portion of student tuition to participate in the Academy program, where students earn credits from both Waverly High School and Southeast Community College. See the October 3 edition of the Waverly News for the complete story.

Parent-Teacher Conferences were held at elementary schools during the last week in September. Middle School and High School conferences will occur in October. Grandparents Day at Hamlow Elementary, and the annual Fourth Grade Heritage Festival at Eagle Elementary will occur on Friday, October 5. Homecoming activities are set for the week of October 8.

Congratulations to the Waverly High School Marching Band. They won the Sweepstakes Award at Columbus Marching Competition on September 29.  This award is a combination of the scores of field show and parade competition and is non class selective.  Our students were the highest score combination of all schools regardless of class including all Double A bands.

Waverly High School Journalism class now features the "Hi-Spot" online. Click here to check out the latest WHS news from the student's perspective!
