District 145 Foundation for Education Ready for New School Year

Foundation hosts annual back to school staff breakfast, provides great support to District 145!

The District 145 Foundation for Education (FFE) hosted the annual All-Staff Back to School Breakfast Monday, August 11th in the Waverly High School commons. 210 faculty and staff members were in attendance, and the event featured a breakfast buffet, raffle prizes and plenty of conversation as co-workers reconnected after the summer break.

The FFE Board of Directors also held their reorganizational retreat at WHS Saturday, August 16th. Tiffany Johnson is serving as President this year; other officers are Vice President Dennis Bellinger, Treasurer Pat Beeson, Secretary Judy Daniell, and Past President Maureen Freeman-Caddy. Staff members are Executive Director Sara Martin and Office Manager Wendi Retzlaff. The Student Intern for 2014-15 is Jack Kasra, and 17 other patrons are currently serving on the Board of Directors.

The FFE is proud to support District 145 students and staff in a variety of ways throughout the year. Teacher Grants continue to be awarded each semester and Student Grants are now available year-round for high school students. The Viking Development Program (VDP) provides Before & After School Care at Hamlow and Eagle Elementary Schools and at Waverly Intermediate School, and a summer program is also available. The annual Golf Tournament is scheduled for May 28, 2015 at Hillcrest Country Club. Funds raised at the tournament directly benefit students in District 145 by being re-invested in grants, character retreats, and staff support.
