Student Enrollment Growth Continues in 2014

For the first time in our district's history, our official enrollment topped 1,900 students. The last Friday in September is the date established by the Nebraska Department of Education to determine the official enrollment for school districts.

We continue to experience steady enrollment growth. K-12 enrollment for 2014 is 1,926 students. This is an increase of 59 students from one year ago!

A large kindergarten class, at both Eagle Elementary and Hamlow Elementary, contributed to that growth. This year we have 165 kindergarten students, compared with 143 a year ago.

The 8th grade is the largest, with 172 students, followed by kindergarten, and 162 fourth graders. The smallest group are the 135 seniors at WHS.

Since 2010, our enrollment has grown by 146 students. In the past ten years (since 2005), our total enrollment has grown by 294 students, or 18%.

The average size of a grade level in 2014 is 148 students, compared with the average of 137 in 2010.

Enrollment by building is:

Hamlow Elementary = 311
Waverly Intermediate School = 328
Eagle Elementary = 264
Waverly Middle School = 461
Waverly High School = 562
