Class B State Runner-Up Basketball Team

Waverly High School girl's basketball team finished a fantastic season and earned a chance to play in the Nebraska School Activity Association Class B State Championship game at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln. The Vikings lost the championship game to conference foe Elkhorn South, who had previously never beaten Waverly in six previous contests between the two high schools. The WHS girls played tremendous defense and made plays down the stretch to defeat first-round opponent Gretna on March 3rd. The second-round game was a rematch of the district final against Springfield-Platteview, who had defeated the Vikings twice during the season. The third time was a charm as WHS knocked off the top-ranked and undefeated team on March 4. In the title game, Elkhorn South outlasted the Vikings in an exciting title match. Congratulations to WHS Coach Ryan Reeder, his staff and the entire team for an outstanding season!
