Students in the Class of 2017 through Class of 2029 Enjoy their First Day

Students return to school for the 2016-17 school year!

The Waverly High School Class of 2017 begins their final year on the same day they welcome the Class of 2020 as freshmen. The first day of school including many "get to know you" activities for students and teachers, as well as introduction to content, syllabi, and expectations. Kyler Erickson, a student at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, talked to WHS students at the conclusion of their first day to encourage them to take an interest in helping others, and making their school and community a better place.

Waverly Middle School students had numerous activities on the first day of school, and had a chance to get to know their classmates and their teachers. Many students expressed their excitement about returning to school and commented that their first day was fantastic! 

Elementary students first day was Tuesday, August 23. Kindergarten through fifth grade students had a lot of fun and there were plenty of smiles in every classroom and hallway.

Prior to the first day, the Foundation for Education hosted the annual back to school breakfast for District 145 staff. The Booster Bash was the first event held at WHS in since the stadium improvements over the summer.
