Academic Integrity at Waverly High School

As a school, it is our priority to support student learning and growth.  Over the years, our grading practices and expectations have shifted in order to maintain the focus on student learning. Many pose questions as to why a student may get a retake on a test, or may hand in a project after a deadline.  Teachers are given the autonomy to set up their own practices, but all teachers must have parameters to avoid students who choose to take advantage of the opportunity.  The focus is on students who are doing the right things, they just may need additional support or another opportunity to demonstrate their learning.

It is the goal at Waverly High School to ensure our student athletes and activity participants are held to a standard of academic excellence.  One of the main reasons students struggle is a lack of communication directly with their teacher; whether it be about understanding, deadlines, needed support, etc.  Communication is prioritized as a critical outcome of the process, and due to the structure of the Red Card System, this communication is guaranteed.  Please click on the link to learn more:  Red Card / Student Eligibility Process
