2018-2019 Back to School Information


Important Information for the 2018-2019 School Year

School-Wide Theme

Our school-wide theme for the 2018-2019 school year is “Oh the Places You’ll Go.” It is my hope that as a community we embrace this message and strive to help our students become the best versions of themselves.  As a building, it is our mission to be a champion for our students, to encourage them to learn from their failures and to celebrate their successes.

First Day of School

August 16, 2018 will be our first day for elementary students K-5 and Early Childhood will begin August 22nd.  Students will enter the building at 8:10 with the tardy bell ringing at 8:15. Please help your student to be on time each day to show them the importance of routines.  There will be supervisors on the playground starting at 7:45, please do not drop off students prior to 7:45. If you need to drop off students prior to 7:45, please contact our Viking Discovery Program, as we cannot have students here without supervision.  

Class Lists

Class lists will be posted at school at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, August 6.  Please join us on this day for the annual Parents and Teachers of Eagle’s (PTE’s) Back to School Bash which is held from 5:30-7:30. This event is a chance for parents and students to socialize with others, have a meal together, and enjoy some fun activities.  For those students who are unable to attend, the class lists will stay posted until school begins or you can call the office any time after this date for the information.

Open House

Open House will be held on Tuesday, August 14 from 6:00-7:00. Please note that this is different from the previous year.  This is a time for you and your child to visit his/her classroom, meet their teacher, fill out paperwork, and pick up important information in regards to your child’s school year.  The office staff will be available on this night to collect money for lunch and K-2 snack.

New Staff

Please join me in welcoming our new staff members to the building.  Mrs. Steffen will be joining us as a special education teacher. We welcome Mrs. Teutsch, Mrs. Sutter, Ms. Riekenberg, Ms. Vavra, and Ms. Mohr as paraprofessionals.  Mr. Casper also joined us this summer as our new night custodian.


Meal prices for this year are:

        Student Breakfast--$1.80     Adult Breakfast--$2.50

        Student Lunch--$2.80          Adult Lunch--$3.70

A free/reduced application form is included with this information.  If you believe you qualify for this service or have in the past, you will need to submit the form.  If you qualified during the 2017-2018 school year a new form has to be completed again this year.  This does not carry over from last year that is why a new one is required.

Elementary Student Handbook

The 2018-2019 Elementary Student Handbook will be posted on our website prior to school starting. Paper copies of the handbook will not be distributed, but are available in the office upon request. It is important for all parents and students to review the handbook together.  All families will need to complete and return the Student Handbook Form indicating you have read the handbook.  Parents of new students will need to complete the Media Release Form. These forms will be on your child’s desk on Open House Night.

Communication/School Visitors

Communication has always been a priority for our school.  We post information on the district website http://www.district145.org/ and the Eagle Elementary Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/EagleVikings.  Teachers also have classroom websites, Facebook pages, and send regular emails to parents.  We want you to be involved in your child’s education and encourage parents to visit school, however, we ask that you notify your child’s teacher to make arrangements for visiting their classroom.  If you would like to eat lunch with your child and are needing a hot lunch from school, please let the office know first thing in the morning. Remember that all visitors must sign in at the office to receive a visitor’s badge prior to going to your child’s classroom.  Signing out is also required.

District 145 Snack/Treat List

Due to student food allergies, we will continue to follow our guidelines in regards to treats brought into the school for birthdays or other occasions.  Also, for safety and equity issues the school district will be providing a drink and snack for each child for our three yearly parties, Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day.  No additional food items will be accepted for these parties. All Halloween candy and valentines must follow the approved snack/treat list.

Parking Lot Expectations

If you need to get out of your car during drop-off or pick-up, even if it is just for a minute, it is extremely important that you park your car in a parking stall before exiting your car.  This ensures that traffic flows around the horseshoe and helps us to keep all of our students and families safe.
