Character Counts
Welcome back! We are excited to share some character building activities and service projects that Waverly Intermediate School students will be participating in again this year. These will be based on the six pillars of character: Citizenship, Fairness, Caring, Respect, Responsibility and Trustworthiness. Several pep-rallies are planned for the entire school to introduce each pillar through music and skits with the help of our own Student Council. We will also honor students from each classroom that exemplify these traits. In addition to these assemblies, classrooms will work as a team to complete character challenges that match each pillar.

Reading Club/Morning Study Hall
Reading Club is up and running again. This year, Reading Club will again be held in the library and will also serve as a study hall for students who need it. Ms. Prieksat and Miss Zach will be supervising students before school from 8:00 a.m. to 8:25 a.m.Monday through Thursday.
In addition to silent reading, students can choose to read quietly with a partner. Children can relax and listen or read to a story to a friend. The library will be a quiet area where students can escape with their books before school every day.
This year, we have expanded reading club to also serve as a study hall. If students have homework they need to finish or study before the day begins, they are welcome to come into the library and work at the tables.
We suggest students bring their own good-fit books from home or that they have checked out from their classroom or library during the week. We do have a small selection of "Reading Club" books for students to choose from, but we WILL NOT be checking out books before school.
All WIS students are welcome to attend Reading Club/Study Hall Monday through Thursday. The library will be closed on Fridays. We look forward to seeing many students utilizing the morning library time for reading and homework this year.
Ms. Prieksat and Miss Zach
