Dear Hamlow Families,

I hope you’re enjoying a restful and joy-filled summer! My name is Sara Renken, and I’m excited to begin my second year as Principal of Hamlow Elementary. It’s been a wonderful experience being part of such a welcoming and supportive community, and I’m eager to continue building strong connections with each of you and your children.

A bit about me: I’ve worked in education for 20 years and have been part of the Waverly district since 2015. My husband, Luke, and I live outside Eagle with our two daughters, who attend Waverly Middle School and Waverly High School. I’m passionate about working alongside families, children, and staff, and I truly believe schools are the heart of a community. It’s an honor to support your child’s learning and growth.

Tables of information will be set up from PTO, Viking Discovery Program, and Scouts.

Kona Ice will be onsite for a nice treat! A portion of proceeds support Hamlow Elementary directly.

Tuesday, August 12 5:30 - 6:30

The first day of school is Thursday, August 14th, 8:25 - 3:20.

• Please park in one of the parking stalls on the West side of the school, if you choose to walk up with your student. Please do not park in the drop-off lane, as this will impede the flow of traffic.

• School is dismissed at 3:20.

• 1st & 2nd Grade students will gather on the playground pavement, South side of the school. Classroom teachers will be out on the playground to pick up their students.

• Please refrain from playing on the playground at this time. Enjoy this time to grab pictures and connect with friends.

• Kindergarten students will arrive 8:40 on the 1st day of school and gather on the playground pavement (South side of school) to line up with their teacher.

• Kindergarten Families feel free to join the Yahoo/Boohoo Breakfast Sponsored by PTO - West side of the building, off the playground, outside gym doors

Drop off and Pick Up Procedures

• As you enter off Castlewood please refrain from parking in the front of the building. Drive along the pick up lane and pull toward the right lane to drop off/pick up your student.

• To keep students safe, please have them exit vehicles on the right side (building side) only, as vehicles may be passing on the left. If this isn't possible, it would be safest to park in a stall before having your child exit the vehicle.

• After you have dropped off/picked up you may use the left lane to safely exit onto Castlewood.

• To help alleviate congestion at the entrance and when using this lane, please pull up to the orange cone by the crosswalk, indicated by the green star below

• Follow the flow of traffic illustrated on the diagram below.

**All students who ride district buses will be escorted to the building by a staff member.
