26-27 Department Successes and Highlights
Engaging, Hands-On Learning: New curriculum has helped make lessons more interactive, encouraging students to share ideas, use creativity, collaborate, and solve problems together.
Thinking Like Scientists: Rather than simply memorizing facts, students are learning to ask questions, investigate, explain their thinking, and apply their knowledge to real-world phenomena.
Stronger Literacy Skills: Teachers are intentionally integrating literacy into science instruction, with an increased focus on vocabulary and helping students communicate their understanding of scientific concepts.
Academic Growth: The average ACT Science score has been on the rise over the past several years, reflecting continued progress in preparing students for future academic success.
A Culture of Collaboration: Our educators support one another, share ideas, and work together with students’ best interests at heart. That commitment to teamwork strengthens both our classrooms and our school community.
Thank you to our science department for the dedication, collaboration, and passion you bring to Waverly High School each day!
Also, thank you to the WHS chapter of the Educators Rising for their time and effort in working to recognize our staff here in Waverly!!!
