
Due to low participation numbers, the reserve & JV softball games against Lincoln Northeast scheduled for Saturday here at Waverly have been cancelled. It is likely we will not reschedule this event, however if we do, we will let you know.

Kayla Gentrup is a Registered Nurse who will be coming to us from LPS. Kayla has a variety of experiences in both elementary and middle school nursing. She has a fun personality and a huge heart for kids–we can’t wait to see how she thrives in our district. Welcome Kayla!


Kari Pagles will be joining us from a position in a medical office, and is excited to get back into a school environment. She previously worked in the district (WMS) and knows what a special place this is. She was also a graduate of Waverly High School. Welcome back, Kari!

Mike Sterns will be joining us from retirement! He has a wealth of incredible experiences and has been teaching high school mathematics for 31 years. He is truly student-centered and we are so excited to bring his knowledge and energy to our Viking Family. Welcome Mike!


Calvin Sheldon comes to us directly from UNL and will be a member of our FCS department. He has a wealth of real-life experiences in many of the FCS concentrations. We are excited to see how these experiences can impact our students. Welcome Calvin!


Waverly High School is excited to announce the hiring of Coach Jerry Dittenber to our activities #Family as the next Head Baseball Coach. Coach Dittenber served in several head & assistant positions for Waverly & other organizations since 2005. Welcome aboard Coach Dittenber!


Tavia Steenson is joining our Viking squad this year as a graduate of UNK. She will be a member of our English Language Arts department. She has positivity for days and will be a great addition to our staff. Welcome Tavia!


Tatum is joining us from UNL and will be a member of our science department. Tatum has a wealth of knowledge and a passion for teaching that will serve her well. We are excited to see how her creativity and Chemistry background will combine in the classroom. Welcome Tatum!


Today, we are excited to welcome Paul Riley to WHS. Paul is joining us after completing his degree at Neb Wesleyan and will be a part of our Social Studies team. His positivity and energy will be a great addition to our Viking Family. Welcome Paul!


We are excited to welcome Chase King to our team! Chase is joining us from Schuyler Central HS, has taught for ten years, and will be joining our ELA department. We are excited to bring his sense of humor and passion for working with all students into our building.

Daniel Kasparek, Marianna Brasch, Brynley Prang, & Kolton Jueneman attended the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, June 26-30. Over 400 members from Nebraska attended the conference. Daniel finished 3rd overall in Business Communications. CONGRATS to ALL!!!!

It was a BIG week for Waverly Cheer at Camp.
THE WHOLE PROGRAM: Spirit Banana (Best Team) - Top Award at camp. The only other time Waverly has brought this home was 15 years ago in 2008.



If you hadn't been following, this group from WHS Global Voices recently took a Trip to Belize! They dabbled in history, econ., math, science, & language daily...a true cross-curricular experience. Positivity & perseverance were the ingredients needed to get through. @cdiddyteach
